Reactor Coolant Pump Motor (RCPM) Air Exhaust Coolers

Avoid Turbine Motor Burnout
Mounted to the stator frames of the large motors that drive the pumps which circulate primary coolant through the reactor vessel, these air-to-cooling water heat exchangers cool air that circulates through the stator and cools the rotor windings. Often, these coils are equipped with removable heads that provide access for inspection, cleaning, and plugging of tubes.

Other commonly used names: RCP Motor Cooler, TEWAC (Totally Enclosed Water to Air Cooler)

Benefits

  • Removable heads provide access for internal tube inspection & maintenance
  • Heavy gauge, rigid construction for high seismic conditions associated with rotating equipment
