Reactor Containment Cooling Coils

Reactor Containment Coils are located inside the reactor containment structure and provide cooling during normal operation. For most existing Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR), they provide an additional safety related cooling function during a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) or main steam line break (MSLB), which is to condense steam within the reactor building and prevent a breach of containment due to over pressurization.
